Looking for the list of top 10 antivirus software 2016? Here we have rated best of the best! Not all antivirus give you same protection, so for that this is our review.
1. VIPRE Antivirus 2016
This year VIPRE Antivirus has all-new interface (as you know, we didn’t care about it in previous versions). As always altogether the technology and the technical support by VIPRE continue to lead among other supply in the market. We test ability of real-time protection, virus removal and scanning for malware, all of which showed improvement in protection and detection possibilities.
Another positive sign is their completely free tech support by phone. If you get a virus, their technical support will help you remove it for free. You won’t face any additional payments or something like that.
It’s nice to face such outstanding attention to product from the company. We wish more companies also act like that.
A few words about the new design: it’s good looking and easy to use, though it looks restrained in some parts. Nevertheless, these really are pretty little details, and they don’t affect the software’s quality.
2. ESET NOD32 Antivirus 8
During our testing rounds, ESET NOD32 Antivirus 8 scored nearly perfect scores in real-time antivirus protection.
Spyware, trojans, viruses and other malware were stopped immediately.
Removal of deeply embedded malware on some of our test PCs sometimes required multiple reboots to have been fixed at all, but in the end the mess was cleaned up. And, there is good news: if you ever have a similar problem after you’ve installed ESET they will help you with cleaning it up for free.
For best protection, there’s ESET Smart Security 8 which has a built-in personal firewall, but if basic protection is all you’re after, ESET proved its worth this year in virus, spyware, and general malware protection and removal.
3. McAfee AntiVirus Plus 2016
When it comes to protection and usability, McAfee is better than most top antivirus rivals, according to tests made by different labs. It was checked whether McAfee influences computer speed with process of installing and running programs, downloading software, etc. The result has shown that McAfee’s mean effect on speed turned to 1 second, comparing to others (average three seconds). In AV-Test performance results McAfee also excelled. When exposed to many samples of new kinds of attacks, McAfee stopped everything, compared to competitors’ average which is 94 percent. McAfee also didn’t make any mistakes in stopping samples of widespread malware which was discovered during the four weeks before the beginning of the test period. To compare with, the industry average turned to 98 percent.
4. AVG Antivirus Software 2016
AVG has a well known history of good and free antivirus software. Traditionally they’ve been supported by a significant community of users.
Though, basic antivirus (it’s free) isn’t enough now. Leastwise, a fully-functional antivirus program is necessary (for example, AVG Antivirus). Moreover, is a useful Internet Security set.
AVG Antivirus 2016 is on a good way, but has several flaws.
As advantage, AVG antivirus abilities are much better and showed good results while testing. User interface becomes easier to navigate and understand.
One serious minus is that AVG don’t have good technical support. Their community support and knowledge base is extensive, but it’s hard to find their tech support phone number.
AVG Antivirus 2016 showed satisfactory results mainly because of its very good virus protection.
6. Norton Security 2016
Norton is situated near the top in open-minded tests, and has average position in our own tests. Approximately 80% of known issues were identified and blocked. Not enough for good work but acceptable.
Really annoying aspect is the way Norton alert to you about a treat.
Really small window is to pop up in the right corner of your screen shows you that an issue has been detected and removed.
That window disappears really quickly and if you don’t pay attention to it, you’ll miss it.
It’s ok that Norton is trying to be imperceptible but still, more noticeable alert would be preferred.
6. Bitdefender Antivirus Plus 2016
Bitdefender earned top positions among most independent tests for virus protection and removal. But in our own test Bitdefender scored well below average (it has a success rate only 60%).
Watching these results, we thought about some kind of misconception. But when we tested the same set of malware for a few times against competing antivirus software, this antivirus didn’t perform as well.
The user interface for Bitdefender is agreeable but it could be better. Sometimes it can be difficult to find what you are searching for, since the text is quite small.
7. Avast Pro Antivirus 2016
Typically, Avast has had a good reputation like worthy antivirus software. In new 2016 version they have the same generally benign protection, but lags behind in a few key areas.
Their technical support is the most disappointing. It drags far below our expectations.
During testing a few false-positives were detected. Though, real-time detection was acceptable.
As a conclusion, Avast Pro Antivirus 2016 represents an average antivirus software solution.
8. Avira Antivirus Premium 2016
Avira Antivirus Pro 2016 is a good, ordinary antivirus program.
Its virus protection has good results during our tests and general malware protection is also acceptable.
The user interface stands out among many competitors, but it has the same problem as Bitdefender (the text is a bit illegible and it’s not easy to find all the settings and properties).
Their definite plus is tech support, which will help you anyway, including virus removal assistance.
7. Kaspersky Anti-Virus Software 2016
As you know, Kaspersky demonstrated its security over the years. This year proved this fact once more. Moreover, Kaspersky scored near the top in almost all categories in tests. But their tech support leaves much to be desired and it uses too mush resources of CPU. It’s clearly that their technical support needs an overhaul. Overall, Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2016 is satisfactory choice, it just needs some improvements.
8. Panda Antivirus Pro 2016
This year Panda Antivirus Pro 2016 shows poor results. They offer average protection, unpolished self-help tech support and more fortunate competitors.
Each year Panda creates new interface and a considerable feature list, so everybody hopes that the company will present it like great product.
Nevertheless, it’s obvious that 2016 won’t show us such product.
